    New state restrictions on boots

No idea what PFAS is, but I am assuming if you smoke it or eat it, it is not good for you. Nice those states' elected officials are looking out of their residents. They must believe it would be easier to not sell these boots than trying to teach their constituents not to eat their boots...

Final Day of Iowa 24-25 Season

You fellas have more snow than here....I think if you go any direction but north from me, there is more snow than here. Nice pic!

End of shooting hours,? for evening hunters

On black Friday at fleet farm they had a Springfield Armory Hellcat Pro with an optic for like $525, signed up for their CC and got 10% off that. This shoots much better than the original HCs. Only a touch bigger, 5 mags with it, 4 of the mags hold 17 rounds (9mm), crazy capacity for a...

    Getting Old Sucks

Depending where you are hunting, you could have had 3 more weeks of season, right? Those birds could use a break from your fury too, they might band together and sent a "get well soon" card! Hope everything goes great in the surgery and you have a good recovery/rehab. You will be a machine in...

End of shooting hours,? for evening hunters

That must have sucked to be in that position. It looks like it was killing 3 (is that her calves behind her?) at the same time. Are they kind of struggling for numbers presently or are they OK?

End of shooting hours,? for evening hunters

What part of Chicago do you live in! Put the box on your house if it is that rough of a neighborhood....or is the mailbox in the post office? Now I need to measure off 20 yards and try hitting the tin can...I will start with a tomato juice can (the 64 ounce or whatever the big ones are) to...

End of shooting hours,? for evening hunters

I am with GIM...shotgun or pistol. Anything within 15 yards with a 12 gauge, even with 6 shot, will be plenty lethal. Outside of 15 yards, is it really a threat? I used to shoot a few coyotes when bird hunting, anything in the 15-20 yard range was DOA using pheasant loads. Don't under...

    Future of CRP ?

I just always assumed that if land sold/transfered and it had a CRP contract on any of it, that it would transfer with the land...but it sounds like it is more just with that owner. I might have to ask about this. If that is the case, there might be something about needing to have ownership for...

    Future of CRP ?

He may need to have it in production or attempt to farm it for at least 2 years to get it into a program. It would be a huge hit to take much out of production and have zero revenue...the county will still want their tax on it. The man is a true sport man and must have a pile more ground or in...

End of shooting hours,? for evening hunters

Can't remember the last time I hunted up to the closing me, has to have been a few decades ago. I will usually unload once I have my 3 and make use of the sling on my shotgun at that time. I am in Iowa, quite doubtful I will come across anything that must be shot...and my shells are still only...

Rating, review and recap of your '24-'25 Iowa season

My season was a bit abbreviated dealing with family issues again this year. I got out on 14 hunts, harvested (brought home) 36 birds. Lost more in the jungle CRP than I will admit too. I hunted our CRP 13 of those hunts which likely resulted in the birds getting very jumpy the last few weeks...

    Vikings game

Gibbs was a beast alone! I am not sure how anyone could beat the Lions if they get a few more "starters" back on the defensive side. The Vikes kind-of held that offense in check for almost 3 quarters. Beat the lambs and back to Detroit for round 3!

    Enough hunting sortof

In September, 73 years old, killing, packing-out and processing a moose....You sound like the toughest 73 year old on the planet!! Even if it took the entire month of September to complete that task...Well done son!!! I don't have those same dreams for my retirement, but if I can get there...

Our final weekend of season in Iowa

The bulk of the birds I encountered Saturday were in an 18 acre block of switchgrass (the heaviest cover on the farm). Didn't get a shot wading through that, but I pushed a ton out into the rest of the farm...they didn't sit much better in that cover...maybe I could just push it faster, had one...

Our final weekend of season in Iowa

It was enough snow for me, but not enough to hold them, the birds were as wild as Goose's girl friends....sorry Goose.
