Sometimes, the calendar seems to roll over really fast and others times, the days, weeks, and months can't go by fast enough. It's hard not to get excited considering all of the near perfect hatch and brood conditions. The above average rainfall produced great nesting opportunities. Thousands of acres of fall crops thriving. The inability for the farmers recently to control the weeds in the fallow ground because of rain has created additional cover and insects. There has not been many hail storms in my area. If I could have asked for the best case scenario to aid in bird number recovery, this was it.
My lab is entering her 4th season. This is what I consider "prime" age for a skilled dog that has had a lot of experience in their young life. I no longer have to hunt for birds. I put on my boots, fill my pockets with shells, pack plenty of water for both of us and more strap on my GoPro to just follow her on her journey. For the lucky ones that I invite to join me, it's looking like another year that I will remember for a lifetime.
Can anyone else relate to my great anticipation yet?
