    How many??

It sounds like most just hunt 1 or 2, I can definitely see why 2 might be a good number but I can't imagine trying to watch 3. Some of you may say it's easy but for me I just can't imagine trying to watch 3. Me and Maggie do pretty good but some day I might add another to train with Maggie.

    Copper Shot?

They are 100% copper shot and they are $40 a box and there is 20 shells per box. I have heard that you can use them where none toxic shot is required but damn that is a lot per shot and with my shooting the season could get expensive! I do shoot copper plated shot and have had good results.

I'm not going to say I'm glad to see your having issues too but it is nice to know I'm not alone on these issues. I will be at pheasant fest and you can bet I will be talking to Garmin reps about the issues I'm having with mine and I agree that they should be able to design something better but...

I will try that for sure, never even gave that a thought but it is worth a try.

It is basically looking for north and pointing at times a complete 180 from where she is at. It is acting totally confused on both things.

    Garmin 550 w/tt25 collar

Thanks for your experience with this issue. I have thought about calling Garmin but haven't yet because I keep thinking it will work itself out if I keep trying different things. I have also kept up on updates so I don't believe that is a problem. It seems to get better the longer we are out...

    Garmin 550 w/tt25 collar

Has anyone using this combo had any issues with accuracy? It seems to struggle even after a calibration with finding Maggs. I'm just wondering if I should turn the handheld and collar off between spots, I already shut off the handheld 90% of the time but most of the time I leave the...

Who is having a good year?

We have had a very good year and Maggie is learning every trip out. The numbers weren't as good as we thought but we shot well this year and were able to shoot a few limits.

    How many??

I can definitely see where 2 or 3 would be a good number out west on the open plains. I hunted sharptail with just Maggs and felt like we were probably missing birds due to so much ground to cover. My biggest worry of having 2 or 3 on the ground would be keeping track of them all.

Maybe the first and last one of 2026

Me and Maggs were out looking for roosters today and we found 2 and one stayed behind. It's been such a fun year and Maggie has exceeded all my expectations and continues to improve every trip out. I have heard many of you say that the best way to train a bird dog is to get them on wild...

    How many??

I'm curious to know how many dogs do you guys take to the field with you? Is 1 enough? How many is to many? I hunt with 1 maybe 2 if I go with someone who has another dog but can't imagine hunting with 3 or more. Seems like it would be chaos..... Advantages and disadvantages?

Anyone give up another form of hunting all together to just hunt birds instead?

So much to say about my journey in hunting. When I was in my teens and early 20s (early 80s) I was totally into upland birds but never had a trained dog and just hunted without one. Later in the late 80s (88ish)a buddy at work talked me into going deer hunting with him and after that first...

    We went south.

We went down south yesterday and had a great day! 5 roosters and 6 quail. We shot 2 roosters that had multiple spurs. Just thought I would share a few pics of our outing.
