Seen a few hens, roosters have moved to the outer reaches. Lots of miles, lots of quail, the dogs are having a blast. Still, only one wild bird shot for five trips. It’s been warm, but they have been actively flooding, should have plenty of water by the time the season is over.

You would be better off snipe hunting.

Good dogs, lots of time wearing out boots and good shooting when the opportunity presents itself, helps. You gotta go to know.

Killed one on Sunday, going back Wednesday. Maybe Banos.

They started flooding yesterday, canal is full and rushing, water starting to show in some spots by 3:00

Robert, gonna stick to my original plan, noon at China, my wife and oldest son wanna walk the bush. We will be there.

I was out there a few times during first season dove, there is water, just not very much. I’ll have a better idea of my plan in the next few days.

Robert, I may be able to pull it together. I was planning an afternoon at China, hit the outer cutties. Trying to get my house on the market, so working a bunch. I’ll be up for a few field sweeps for sure, this season.

Getting ready, the dogs are tuned up, fired up for the birds. Just hope the fires stay out of areas we wanna hit. I’lol keep checking in.

I have a little Jagdterrier and a French Brittany. Wednesday was my last day for wild birds, we had a great day, with lots of birds, one confirmed kill and a pillow case and the bugga ran. Gonna focus on some quail and ducks, maybe a few preserve birds. The dogs had a great season.

I was out yesterday as well, 8 hens and one rooster, no kills.
