    Arsenic in candy

Yea....I really don't buy or eat candy much during the year. I normally really limit soda and other high sugar stuff too. There are times though where I'm driving half way across the country by myself and I'm looking for some sugar to keep going. I'm trying to away from a lot of processed foods...

    Arsenic in candy

What got me was the annual limits. I can eat a package of licorice in a couple days driving and will have exceeded my annual limit per the report. Every candy bar after that just adds to the number. I saw another report last year that detailed the amount of Round Up in cereal, granola bars and...

    Arsenic in candy

I don't eat a lot of candy during the year but I do tend to buy some for hunting trips....especially when it's cold out. Snickers, Peanut butter cups, M & M's etc., are some of my go to snacks. After reading this report, I'm going to have to find something else. The industry is down playing...

    New Tires: Falken Rubitrek?

Another quick follow up. We got several inches of snow with single digit temps. It's nice and slick out there. Since I got nothing better to do and I wanted to see how the tires would do on snowy...icy roads I hopped in my truck and drove about 50 miles. Some back roads... a little...

Thanks for reaching out. I can have an application form sent to you or you could join one of our upcoming meetings. We meet at the James A. Reed Wildlife Area frequently during the spring, summer and fall. We are running a hunt test there in April and you would be welcome to come to that. If...

    Here's kinda my plan

I enjoy working on my stuff. I'm doing my spinning reels first and then I'll do my casting reels. I am still fishing with a small Ryobi reel I bought when I was in high school. It's all metal. I don't think they make reels anymore but it was built like a tank. That reel and a cheap yellow Eagle...

    Here's kinda my plan

I've given up on hunting for this season and I've started to put some stuff away. I got a cold and cough weeks ago and the cough is still hanging around. I had some minor surgery on Wednesday too and can't do much with the stitches. Oh well. I got out several of my spinning reels that I use for...

    New a5 20 guage

I have two Jap made A5's. One is a 12 gauge my wife bought me when we were engaged 39 years ago. The other is a sweet 20 gauge with a 20 inch barrel that I absolutely love. I'm putting together a new trout fishing set up and just ordered a new Daiwa fishing reel that was made in Japan for the...

    How many??

I normally put 2 in the field because I don't like leaving a dog in my truck when I'm by myself. 3 or more is ok if the dogs are all well trained and know each other. More than 3 probably isn't needed unless you have several hunters covering a big area.

How cold is too cold in a kennel?

You need to get out more. Skunks, porcupines, snakes, fences, old barbwire, tree branches, corn stalks, sharp rocks, sharp ice and gopher holes are all common where I go. All good reasons to have a first aid kit and a place where you can contain a dog when needed. Regardless, this has all been...

How cold is too cold in a kennel?

Where does your dog go when it's sick, injured, skunked or you only want to put one dog out hunting? How do you contain an injured tog and drive at the same time? What if the dogs gets skunked? Your dogs never get diarrhea on trips? No thanks. I always have a kennel in the back of my truck...

How cold is too cold in a kennel?

If you have to leave a dog in the truck when your hunting because they cut a pad or for some other reason, how do you keep them warm if you don't have a kennel to put them in? Easier to heat a kennel with body heat than a large truck cab in freezing temps. At that point, my dogs would rather be...
