    Gloves

This is a great time of year to get new cold weather gear. Some nice sales going on right now. I ordered some new cold weather 3 fingered gloves today. Won't get used for bird hunting but they'll be great for hiking and camping in really cold weather.

    Gloves

I got a pair of Winco Frost Breakers today. Work gloves for winter weather. Watched a video of a guy in Alaska and noticed he wears them on his camping trips in the dead of winter so I tried a pair out today and they were surprisingly flexible. Fingers and palm covered in some type of rubber...

    Too old....?

Get the dog and and If you get a dog from some breeders, the price of the pup includes initial training when they are old enough. Money well spent and you can learn with the pup.

    Sneaking dog into motel

These dog fees are getting ridiculous so I spend a lot of time in advance researching motels and cost. I found a motel in Fargo that doesn't charge a dog fee. Doesn't look as cheap as others at first but when you account for the lack of extra fees it's an ok deal, so I stay there when I'm going...

    Recent dog food experience

I agree. I think they're a lot of benefits to feeding quality food to hard working bird dogs but it doesn't replace breeding or training.

    Self evaluation

My wife has been sick the last several years and has been fighting Stage 4 colon cancer. It's been 3 years since her last surgery and she has remained cancer free. She isn't out of the woods but recent tests have us breathing a bit easier. She is in a small % of Stage 4 patients in a good way...

    New Skin Sensitive Skin

I didn't know that but he couldn't lick where he was cut, so that probably helped. I used what I could quickly get on a Sunday morning but I probably need to pick up some vet bond. Thanks.

    2026 Pheasant Fest-Report

I didn't go to the show this year because of the location. Long drive to just walk around. Next years show is in Omaha. Much better location and shorter drive for me.

    New Skin Sensitive Skin

My dogs cut was on the top of his back and about an inch long but would gap open like a jagged hole. I put a good amount of the NS on and didn't think it would hold at first but it got tacky when it started to dry and I pinched it together and it held. To keep it from opening back up, I have...

    Close-medium

My male Vizsla is 58-60 lbs. His dad is half European but he's a bit different than most.

    New Skin Sensitive Skin

I have not been a fan of New Skin, because the original formula stung like crazy. Not good for me or my dogs. When my Vizsla was recently cut by barbwire, I went to the local pharmacy and found a new to me.....New Skin product. I bought it and used it on my dogs cut and it has held together...

    Food floating

I don't put a lot of water but I do add water to every meal. I use a food topper and the water helps turn it into a gravy. The downside is my dogs don't like soggy food and if they don't eat right away for whatever reason, they aren't big on eating it later.

    I hate barbwire

Our club does a bird hunt every year at a local preserve and I bought some Chukars for my Vizsla on Saturday to get him some bird work.. It didn't take him long to find our birds and he had a good day but on the way back to the truck he went through a fence and came back and evidently caught a...

    Chainsaws...sort of.

I have a few different hand saws I use for small trees or limbs that work well enough but I can see where an electric saw would be nice to have. Where I hunt in Colorado has small Aspen and just about any saw or axe will work to clear a trail. Where I've bear hunted in NW Montana had some pretty...

    Chainsaws...sort of.

McCulloch made a really good saw back in the day and have become a collectable chainsaw. Their Pro Mac 10-10 is popular on eBay. Their large 125 saw was big with professional timber fallers.
