I'm getting there. I used to go up to Canada for deer and I've stopped doing that. I am getting a bit old for elk hunting and I probably have 1 trip left in me before I give up that ghost. After that, hunting birds with my dogs will be the only thing between me and the nursing home.

I've never hunted an area with my dogs that we had to deal with cactus but we are going to some new areas this year and you guys have me thinking it might be a good idea to have some boots in the truck....just in case.

I spike their morning water with a small amount of a food topper I make, before we leave the motel. They will drink the entire bowl. Dyne or chicken broth is also something you can add to water.

I don't know what others look at when considering one dog food over another but one thing I strongly consider is kcal per cup because my Vizsla won't eat a lot of food in volume. FWIW, I did a comparison before I moved my dogs to Nutrisource. PPP chicken and & rice has 488 kcal per cup PPP...
