I'll second the Zymox Otic. Try to get the 4 oz bottle, which is often out of stock online. Had a lab with ear issues her whole life. With this stuff, you don't clean out the ears, you just squirt it in there and squeeze the lower ear together to mush it around. Leaving the old gunk in there...

That's a good theory, but I have seen them do it the instant they are hit too, which makes me think something is off with their ability to tell direction.

@Jim K - One thing I will add is to keep the dog close. The wolves alive now, not having been hunted/trapped, do not have a fear of humans. That doesn't mean you will be in danger, but they don't seem to care if a hunter is 40-50 yards away, and you don't want your dog 40-50 yards out and...

@2point - Your story about the tweety bird reminds me of a story my dad told me. He was visiting back home in NE Wisconsin, and his younger brothers (probably in their 20s) and he went out to the dump for some plinking. At one point, a soda can ended up being put on a bush quite a ways away...

They have a new shot at Boss that they hope to sell by fall in 3, 4, and 5 size. Allegedly more uniform, hard, so penetration is similar to bismuth. I have to believe it is some mix of steel, nickel, and/or copper (2 or 3 of those). But that is just a guess.
