What produces recoil? Velocity or payload?

Waiting on emails from federal, win, and rem to see what they say. This just the email regarding my pictures above.

What produces recoil? Velocity or payload?

Its common practice... For everyone. Heres a 1 1/2 load.

What produces recoil? Velocity or payload?

Yes wad is included in the payload weight, its included in your listed weight on factory ammo so you dont need to add extra. 1 1/4 on the box means 1 1/4 of shot and wad weight combined

What produces recoil? Velocity or payload?

Just use 30grains, which would be 0.00428 pounds. It doesn't matter much in the equation.

What produces recoil? Velocity or payload?

Felt recoil is (Sw x Mv + 4,700 x Pw)2 / (64.348 x Gw) (The 2 after the first part of the equation is exponent 2... x2) Sw- shot weight Mv- muzzle velocity Pw- powder weight Gw- gun weight All numbers in pounds and fps. Imput a few different scenarios changing shot weight and velocity and...

    Your "Go-To" gun and why?

I am not a pretty gun type of guy, not in the field. Im more of a beater hunting gun guy so i can set it down in the mud or hunt in the rain without worry. I leave the expensive guns in the safe and take a stoeger condor or beretta a300 in the field, both 20ga. When i get older i am sure i will...

    The truth about Prairie Storm

Yeah there's nothing besides hw15 and tss that will stay together as a good pattern at 1600+. Maybe the new round hw13 shot, I havent played with that any. So yeah besides having minimal effect on increased penetration, they wont pattern worth a hoot at the extreme end of their range anyways...

    The truth about Prairie Storm

A5, all of your loads stated would be considered high velocity (or handicap in target). Its 1300+ in most cases for lead shot, 1300-1400 for steel. You cant hardly find standard velocities anymore, all field loads except turkey are HV these days, because speed is important. In lead 12ga...

    The truth about Prairie Storm

Ive been known to roll a long bird that is flying out of cover to an open bean field. I dont like doing it, but if its a high percentage shot I'll take it.. its more in line with the dove hunting shots I am used to anyways so usually makeable if the right choke is in. I do not shoot long over...

    The truth about Prairie Storm

Energy is speed and mass. Without high speed you need to keep going up in shot size to get your down range energy you talk about, which reduces your pellet count. The only thing high speed hurts is that it can blow out patterns with deforming shot (lead/bismuth). Otherwise its only a good...

    Milo/sorghum

Going to put in a plot of sorghum this spring, going to plant it thick for cover and winter food not for hunting (although it may get walked a couple times). Going to drill it in after burn down, and would like to use a pre emerg as well (probably dual2). What varieties would you guys suggest?

Is this an old or young pheasant?

Iowa DNR says spurs can only be used to identify a bird up to 1.5yo. I've shot yearlings where the beak broke with 1/2"+ spurs, and I've shot giant old rough beat up adults with little nubs. Its genetics IMO

    Shot Variety

Almost all rising quartering away with flushers. Rarely ever straight away, maybe a dozen times in my life were they coming at me. Most shots about 25 yards.
