  • Justyn, pull up German shorthair kennels on google and then sort through their dogs pedigree's and their philosophy's. I know Abe Lane, Westwind and there are a few others like Top gun that have good linebred Hillhaven dog's. Sometimes there is over a year wait on puppies. If my dog ever decides to come into heat, she will be bred to a dog named Outlaw's Tall in the Saddle aka. Duke . He has Hustler and Trekker all over his pedigree. My Dog has Hillhaven on her moms side and some high run dogs on the Dads.Trying to get the IC higher for the traits I like.
Sorry, I guess my post was too long and it cut me off. I know mostly shorthairs and the line I like is Hillhaven. Mostly because of hall of fame dog Hillhavens Hustler. His progeny includes Trekker V Grunbaum the most decorated dog in AKC history . This line is proven for the foot hunter/companion dogs. You can google any dogs registered name and something should pop up. there are several kennels who stick with this line. Good Luck
Justyn, you will need to do a lot of research on the breed you want. There are different tendencies within the same breed. Some are bred for trials, and some for foot hunters and companion dogs. Good breeders have their proven strict lines that they breed for. Have you heard of the term line bred? This is where breeders have filtered the desirable traits from years of breeding. This is why you will see the same dog or dogs 3 or 4 times within a pedigree , sometimes on both sides, Sire and Dams. There is a term that is called inbreed coefficient , and there is a % put on how well the dog is line bred. There is a difference between line bred and inbred . Do some research on the IC and find what you would like to have. A field trial dog, which sometimes are difficult in the home( I call them kennel dogs) It is what they are bred for, so do not fault the dog. Or a dog that is a proven Companion/ Hunting dog,
