when i use my pump, i usually used Federal Speed Shok or Xperts Kind of off topic, but has anyone else noticed some 3" shells are indeed 3 1/8", such as Remington Hypersonic, I believe Kents are similar. Only noticed this when my gun would jam on those shells, then we lined them up next to...

Last Hunt of the 23-24 Season

Met my dad out in East Central SD this past friday. Our host was awesome she let us hunt their shelterbelts along with some other cover they had along a river. She even called another land owner which had a good pocket of birds. Friday we saved the private stuff for later, so we tried a WIA...

    Crock pot

Pheasant breast and legs with chicken or pheasant stock to cover, 8 hours low, shred the breast and legs and use in soups, chili, BBQ sammies, and or buffalo pheasant dip. It just take a couple of minutes to pull the tendons out of the legs, alot of good meat there

    Chasing

Our PP will do this and so did our lab (i never did train him to sit and wait on a ecollar) on pheasants. Similar to ruffed grouse, our PP bumps them, but I've noticed this fall she is starting to point earlier vs trying to figure out the scent and getting closer. I was told more wild bird...

    Late Season Advice

Got back from SD on tuesday, hunted NW of Mitchell. Pretty tough going for us, we have private land access which we saved for sunday. Friday and saturday we stuck to public stuff. most of the CREP pieces we hunted were hayed. Kicked up 10 birds between those 2 days, got 2 out of 3 roosters those...

    solo hunting

when i first started hunting, we used to hunt SD in the line birgrades, as I grow older, the more I enjoy hunting solo with the dogs or with my growing kids or my father. When I hunt with friends, they just dont stay quiet, I cringe anytime they slam the doors or start yelling/talking in the fields

    2023 Season

100% agree. I laugh every time a article in Outdoor News or PF's magazine/podcast telling everyone late season is the time to go with no pressure

    11/18-11/21 Report-SE SD

I do! 2 3/4"? All i shoot for pheasants and late season mallards CREP NW of Mitchell can also be pathetic, I'll know what it looks like in a couple of weeks, but over the last 5 years, we've found one that had decent cover but I see they took it out this year

    2023 Season

Joined the MN Backcountry Hunters and Anglers Pheasant hunter yesterday in New London, pretty slow going. Great looking habitat in that area, saw 1 hen and 1 rooster all day in our smaller group.
