Made a quick trip out Tuesday to stretch the legs and give the dogs something to do besides drive me crazy. Saw one group of six, one pair and two singles. None got up in gun range but I was pleased with seeing anything really. I felt like 4 contacts in about that many hrs walking was pretty...
I try and time it so I’m back at the vehicle by the end of shooting time. If I don’t quite make it I do unload my weapon. I’m not saying they would but I think a game warden could make a pretty good argument that you were still “hunting” if you have a loaded weapon and dogs running around.
Of...
I don’t know that I have any suggestions per se. So much depends on the individual dog and the shape they are in. You know your dog better than anyone so the best advice I have got is let them tell you how much they can handle comfortably. Both of mine are over 10 and one is coming back from his...
Yes, I think they would be warmer than I would like for the early season and I agree that durability could be an issue if worn a lot or in thorny cover. I don’t see much of an issue wearing them in cattails or grass cover. I have worn them in some pretty cold and wet conditions and stayed plenty...
I’d never looked at the sizes. I have no idea why they would only have those available. I do use their chaps. They are about 5 yrs old and have held up extremely well considering how much they are used.

I don’t think these are the exact ones I have but mine are several yrs old so I probably have the original version. Just to be sure you have full disclosure, I don’t wear these a lot and I wouldn’t wear them for...
I have a pair of pants that are scheels branded that fit most of your requirements with the exception being the zippers only go up to about the knee instead of all the way up.
That said I wear chaps 95% of the time, just going to the pants when it’s raining or snowing.

Exactly the way it should be. Like others have said, I’d never hunt with someone who kept their safety off. As it turns out I missed 2 birds last week in sd because the safety didn’t come off when mounting. I’m sure it was because of cold hands and heavy gloves but I’d rather miss a bird than...
Thanks to all that gave advice. Day went about like I figured unfortunately. Was getting skunked until i was trudging back across a pasture with knee high grass 10 minutes before sunset. For some reason there were 2 birds hanging out and one let me get a little to close. I hunted shelterbelts...
Given the forecast of extreme winds tomorrow how would you plan your day?
I always seem to struggle to find birds on these extremely windy days. For the locals, yes the best option might be to stay home but when you only have 5 days you gotta give it a go.
You’re spot on. I do the same thing at least once a year. Sometimes it’s setting up a tent and staying for multiple nights in one spot, others it’s throw the bedroll on the ground just stay for the night. Either way it’s a magical experience. The air is cleaner, skies are bluer and the coffee is...
