I'm always astonished as to how much of the countryside has some form of old barb wire. It's in places you'd never expect to see it.

I only use one shotgun for pheasant hunting (its a 12 gauge Benelli). I use a 20 gauge for ruffed grouse hunting. But I only do that about once a season.

Midwest actually has trees too. Prairie does not.

I think it's a simple by-product of more hunters doing it. Deer hunters outnumber everything else combined here. So naturally, the result is going too be more problems. I am not about to approach someone who I think is poaching or trespassing. I'll call an LEO. That's their job, not mine.

Never harvested a "bonus" bird while pheasant hunting. Not once in 25 years. Never even seen a Hungarian partridge even though the daily bag limit here is five. My bonus is taking out a feral cat.

I honestly don't think I've ever encountered someone poaching other than when they've shot a hen. Trespassing seems to be a significantly more widespread problem where I hunt and most of that stems from deer hunters.

The problem is that any politician who even mentions the words "social security modification" risks political suicide. None of them have the spine to even consider tackling the problem.

Hate to put a damper on SS but it's going to be insolvent in about 7 years unless something drastic is done about it. I still have about 20 years or so in the workforce and my financial planner doesn't even include it anymore in long term projections.
