Snowfall - It could get pretty tough out there

Packing the snowshoes for my trip to SD over the next week was exciting.. easily some of my best hunts have been when there’s enough snow to hold a few birds and keep the other hunters away. Just need to make it there and back in one piece!

    How’s your shooting been?

:ROFLMAO: I should have clarified, some of those birds were killed on the second shot.. but a decent dog and not taking pokes at longer birds makes this possible.. Like everyone I've had my slumps. To start the year I think I went 1/5? Quite the turnaround.

    How’s your shooting been?

Some sort of shoulder injury.. unsure what exactly. Went to a good vet, doing PRP injections which should speed up healing. He’s 1,000,000 times better than the initial injury, but in late October a long pheasant hunt set him back a bit. Hoping he’s pretty good this trip. If not I’ll bench him...

    How’s your shooting been?

Appreciate it.. he’s doing good, haven’t hunted him at all. Next week in SD we’ll do 10 minutes the first day, 20 the second, and increase slightly from there if we can. He was fine to hunt a few SHORT ditches last trip. Hoping he can do a little more this time. Either way he’s living a happy...

    How’s your shooting been?

Beginning of the year I missed a few birds that left me wondering if I had blanks in the gun.. started to think about the shot more (mount the gun, head down, lead, swing through, etc.) and that made things worse. Then I started to not think at all.. throw the gun up and shoot the thing.. that...

    2025/2026 Pheasant Hunting Videos

Finally in South Dakota! Bird numbers are good/great. Day 1 was a bit of a struggle, the first spot we hunted was a dud, and birds are off and running.. hard to pin down with myself and 1 dog.. today we were done in 20 minutes. Almost too quick, but I got my wish of watching football (even if I...

Hunting the public ROW - Thoughts?

I leave for SD today and have hunted the ROW most trips.. So I feel like I should know the following answer.. usually i just err on the side of caution but I tried to brush up on the regs last night and couldn’t find a particular distance from the centerline or what amount of the ditch...

    The flush

The only watchable pheasant videos (for me at least) are solo hunters with their dog/dogs. I don't see the appeal in marching in a line of multiple guys and screaming "ROOSTER/HEN" when a bird gets up. When it comes to Youtube I think Eric Forrester is the best to do it. Wish he had more...

    Boots , what ya like?

Crispi Upland Pro's have been pretty good to me.. My Shimek's last year were good down into the single digits. I wouldn't own anything but Cripi's.

    Ground-pounding opinions

In my videos I typically run a slo-mo replay of each bird I shoot, sometimes I can hear the safety clicking off when I’m mounting the gun. I cannot for the life of me imagine just walking around with the safety off. Realistically I’m never touching the trigger anyways, but come on.. if people...

South Dakota Pheasant Hunting Is Changing, Or Has Changed

I typically hunt near popular SD pheasant destinations/towns, and I think I can count on one hand how many times I’ve wanted to hunt a spot but someone was already there. I hope everyone goes to fancy lodges and lets me have free rein of the public. I always hear “the public has been pounded”...

Can anyone provide me with a motel referral in NW that allows dogs??

Rent an AirBnb... You'll likely get an entire house for the same price as a hotel. A full kitchen, fridge, and some privacy are priceless. I don't see the benefit of a hotel.

    2025/2026 Pheasant Hunting Videos

Tough start to the season losing Marty until December.. Larry is carrying the torch for now. Not my best work, and definitely not my best shooting, but in a few weeks I'll post my SD videos, and those should be fantastic. Doubt anyone else will be able to post a video this year where they find a...

    Injury Help

Update: doc checked out the leg and was able to recreate some discomfort when moving it away from his body.. thinks the issue is with tendons or ligaments on the inside of shoulder, going back tomorrow for some PRP injections, he thinks that’s the best course of action. He said the November SD...

    Wet Crispi Boots

In my experience the Upland Pro's fit just like my Shimek's.. Honestly call their customer service.. When I did a real person answered immediately without any weird menu options. He was awesome and answered every question I had. My boots had some very minimal fraying on some of the stitching and...
