The tile/ditch didn't work

Last summer one the sloughs that I hunt got a little work done to it. It is about 1/2 mile long and may be 50 yards wide. The owner cleaned out the ditch next to it and filled in the slough with the dirt and leveled the thing out with his dozer. There was not a cattail left when he got done. I was pretty bummed. Today I drove by it and none of the old slough is being farmed, still to wet. You would not even know the work was done except for the cattails are shorter then they were. Sometimes you can't beat mother nature.

They'll keep trying tho. Every year a guy in my neighborhood mows a small slough, I guess because it is dry enough or because he can. I cannot htink of anyother reason. Too late to keep the weeds down.

I have seen this done too, at least now it is law in MN that wetlands can't be touched. If they want to or do without asking it can be a 25,000$ environmental assessment. That detours most of them except urban developers.
