Job Description:
Buffalo Butte Ranch is looking to add an additional hunting guide for the 2017 South Dakota Pheasant Hunting season and beyond. We are located in the heart of South Dakota's famous "Golden Triangle" of pheasant hunting and run anywhere from 5-7 days a week guiding clients on private pheasant hunting land. Our season at Buffalo Butte Ranch starts in September and runs through the end of December. The job requires individuals to be in a healthy enough condition to walk throughout the day with clients as they hunt our fields. Our days can range from 3-4 hours in the field to as much as 7-8. Other duties include greeting guests and going over safety precautions and hunting guidelines. Assisting other guides as needed as well as various guiding duties.
Position Length:
The position has the opportunity to be a long lasting relationship, but in order to understand both you and your dog/dogs, we look to have this as a weekly trial period. This allows both parties to get a handle on how each guide handles clients through the fields and after the hunt.
Rate: DOQ, Plus tips.
Qualifications For Guiding:
We're looking for energetic, motivated, personable individuals with great work ethic and who are avid pheasant hunters. They must have experienced flushing or pointing dogs (our operations can go both ways) or a combination of both. Candidate must have the ability to work varying shifts, including evenings, weekends, and possible holidays. Candidate must have previous experience working with shotguns and be familiar with safety in the field for our clients but as well themselves. Previous guiding experiences are a plus and are sought after but not required.

Buffalo Butte Ranch is a 6,000 acre privately owned and operated farm which has been in our family for five generations. We are truly a "hands on" host and will make every effort we can to see our clients stay is everything and more than they expect. We are known for being friendly and helpful and we hope we only add to that tradition with a potential candidate. We offer our guides a newly built guides quarters to stay in while guiding on the property. Also, all of the meals are provided at the lodge.
