Mushrooms?

Anyone finding any morels yet?
I snuck out for a quick stroll through the woods today and found 2 of the tinyest grays you've ever seen. I'm not even sure how I saw them!!

I think, according to the forecast, they'll start popping in my spot next week.
But, my best spot seems to be a little later than a lot of people's.

I did find a nice mess of reds/beefsteaks, but I just leave those. Some people eat them, and I ate plenty when I was a kid, but I have a problem eating something designated as "poisonous" in most books.

I checked an old faithful spot before church this morning. They weren't up yet, at least not through the leaves. I'm leaving for Minnesota next Monday and have baseball games from Thursday thru Sunday...I'm afraid the wife is going to have to buy some from the farmer's market this year:eek:

the wife and I found 5 little greys Saturday, along with a lot of reds. If we get the rains tomorrow, look out by this weekend. We don't eat the red one's
either. Also found 4 spears of asparagus Sat. Things are trying to grow, just need rain

Found a dozen tonight. Some were dried almost. Others fresh. Cousin posted a pic on Facebook showing a casserole dish covered up. Southeast Kansas.

Didn't get near the rain here I was wishing for, (so I'm told, I was in SW MO at a funeral), but I'm hearing lots of good reports, and seeing pictures of some pretty hefty finds.
Got injured at work last week, so I may end up with more free mushroom hunting time than I'd like... :(

These next few days should be incredible! Can't wait to see the pics as I won't get to partake, so don't forget about me...post some pics:)

We finally got a significant rainfall!!

I've been busier than any man should have to be, and NONE of it has been of a pleasant nature. Doctors appointments, MRIs, funeral, daughter's surgery,...etc.

But, I managed a walk through the timber this morning!
They're up!!

Lots of leaf clutter this year makes them even harder to find.

Found about 1/2 grays and 1/2 yellows. The yellows were still pretty small.

I sent this pic to my daughter recovering in her bed, just to let her know I was bringing some home, but I ended up filling it about 1/2 full.

Hope all the family is doing better.
I have never gone mushroom hunting. May have to give it a try.

My brother-in-law did not stop his shorthair from fighting coons. Finally, his dog
caught an infection after a fight and died in early November. He was a fine bird dog in his prime.

Very nice! Been meaning to look for some, hopefully tomorrow. Still need to get the dogs out running and swimming.

Nice! I found 2 grays in my front yard this morning. I was hoping there would be more, but I sure couldn't find any. I hope there are more to come!

Found another small mess this morning, but I think this cold front might have slowed them a bit...maybe.
With all that much needed rain we got, one good sunny day oughta get them popping again! Who knows..?

Yea Jerry, we need to hook up. Other than having shoulder surgery soon, I'm about as open as I've ever been!
We're smack dab in the middle of FF right now, but it's going pretty good.

I go see the surgeon on Thursday, but other than that...I'm open.
Gimme a shout!
Kevin
