I'm thinking about joining Mid America Hunting Association or Hunting Sports Plus and heard there was a thread here, but I can't locate it. Anyboby have any thoughts on the subject

dont have any experience with it so maybe i should shutup ,however, ive seen their website for years and contemplated it off and on.since i live in Co.alot of it 's not close enough to use every weekend,so for me it would be a prepaid vacation, like a time share really.
in the new millennium,we're all gonna have to pay more for our hunting(some dont want to admit that to themselves).
it'll be a hybrid between the american style and the europeans where one would need to be in a club for access to better hunting

i suppose you could ask yourself ,what does it cost for 5 days in so.dakota for pheasant,5 days in canada for ducks and goose, and then gas for a few days day tripping to hunt on public land with few birds. if you're running a dog it actually imperative that one would do something to put them on birds, paid preserve hunting ,etc.
for me its not the cost,it would be the time,i'd want to schedule vacation to get at least 2- 7 day whacks at it.a week for ducks and a week for up land.
just thinking,i saw your postd and it seemed your contemplating alot.
i'd do it

I agree with everything you said. Vacation time is the big key for me. I hunt two 5-7 day periods and will spend time on both waterfowl and upland. I run a versatile dog called a pudelpointer and need birds for her to hunt. Hunting s solid week of either is hard, so I'll try to split it up and hunt a few days of each on a trip. I have to figure in driving time from FL to MO or KS which starts at 16 hours and goes up. It's a hunting vacation and I may as well have as much fun as I can for me and my dog. MAHA here I come.

I used to belong to hunting Sports Plus. It was OK at best. You have to do alot of work and scouting to find the right properties to hunt. The hunting reports are bogus as people do not write up what they really harvested. The property also gets pounded if its 2 hours from any big city so you have to drive way out to get property that is not hunted everyday. Also if you try to sell your membership they have transfer fees and all kind of rules for that. I just starting knocking on doors and did just as well hunting public property.
