Challenging Season in Colorado

We hunted some new private land in Western, Nebraska as well as some of our favorite hot spots in Colorado. I walked over 25 miles over 3 days. We didn't put up a single bird in some exquisite land in Nebraska. The dogs and I found 6 roosters during the trip (all in Colorado). We shot 3 birds. Poor execution. Candidly, we usually put up 6 birds in the first couple of fields.

We will give it another shot in a couple of weeks.

It's rough out there. I've never walked so far on ideal private land only to see a single hen, and one rooster flushing at 100 yards out. My dogs are finding birds, but nothing like prior seasons. Last season the cover sucked, but we found some birds when the snow hit. I am not confident that we will experience the same phenomenon this year. Good luck the rest of the way.
