The season pass is $500 for the entire season, or $110 a day.Tell us more about the season pass - have not heard about their pass system.
This area (Brule) has some of the highest brood counts for 2015; Brule, Buffalo and Lyman. Would assume the hunting would be excellent - if you can gain permission.
Just being cheaper if you plan to hunt more than 5 days. We have turned it into two hunts, one early and one late because its a flat $500 for the season. And the benefit to a pass??
From my understanding no, because technically it's a separate country.Don't you still need a SD hunting license? And permission to hunt private land?
I noticed there are 50,000 acres of public to hunt; not sure of the quality of land - crops? hilly? grasslands?

I reread the regulations: Article 8 under licensing and regulation states the a SD license isn't required on reservation land. However, $500 is a tad more than the out of state fees one pays to pheasant hunt.
And road hunting is not allowed...
What is the benefit to hunting this area, given the high fee?
Brule bird counts just came out with a 33% decline from last year.
What time of year did you go?I hunted there last year and was surprised by the amount of hunting pressure (thought the high fees would keep folks away). Reservation has a lot of land, but the amount of pheasant habitat is limited and beyond that, they further limit the areas available for non tribal members. With decent reports in Kansas I'm probably going there with all the walk-in-hunting-area available, there is plenty to choose from.

Thank you for the intel. This might not be the year to try Lower Brule then. Not sure how good of a deal that truly is. If you hunted every day of the Brule season it would average out to about $6 per day. The state license is $12 per day and you get to chose your days.
I'm going to agree with hunterofbirds. While there is alot if walk in acres a small portion of it is pheasant habitat. And several different areas of pheasant habitat ( farm ground) is so infested with sand burs that I won't venture out in it with my dogs cut it isn't worth the effort. There is a tremendous amount of grouse and chicken habitat but pheasants are rare out in the prairies.
I've been grouse hunting the national grasslands fir 2 days and have also driven the Brule extensively yesterday and today. I'm believing their report. There were two devastating storms there in early June that wreaked havoc on the wildlife and also the structures on the Brule. One has to only look at the damage in west Brule and lower brule to see how bad it got. There are barns and grain storage bins tipped over from one end to the other on the Lower Brule.
I fish Sharpe alot so I spend considerable time
I highly recommend The Golden Buffalo Casino for the cheapest prime rib in the lower 48.
$10 for a 12 oz South Dakota angus....Yes, please...big perk of hunting lower Brule!
