How did your season go?

The groups I went with got 52 pheasants this season. We got 50 last season but we hunted a lot more last season. We did not leave Sumner County this season. I look forward to the days when my friends out west can have hunts again.

Sounds like a pretty good season for you. I had a great season simply because I was able to get out most of the weekends. I sure would have liked to see more birds, and I am sure Ox wishes I shot more of the one we found. But all in all it was hunting which is better than work.

Mike,
Not sure how big your groups are but that's a pretty good season in my books. Hunted down your way a few times this year and found good numbers of quail, not sure how you guys did with quail but most of the coveys we got into where pretty good sized. As far as your friends out West, from the week I spent out there it may be a while before your friends have any kind of hunting to write home about. Who would have ever thought South Central Kansas would be better pheasant hunting than SW Kansas!

I had a pretty decent season. Did not really go on a true pheasant hunt. I hunted areas for quail and if there was some good grass, turned the dogs loose for some pheasants. Think I shot 3-4 roosters total for the year.

I did get into a fair number of quail. Not anything to get compare with a couple years ago, but better than last year.

The dog work was really pretty darn good most of the time. Did have a couple of pretty bad cuts that took Indy out of the starting line-up for several weeks of the season.

Highlights, My SIL shot his first quail and first rooster over Indy's points. My son shot some quail and a pheasants over Ace's point. Did also get to hunt with some good friends from in and out of state. I also got about a dozen videos of dog work this season.

I had a fun season, and am bummed that it is over.

Bryan,

Most groups were 2-4 men, twice we had as many as 9. Brandon and I had a blast in SD. We plan a father/son hunt one weekend & then we are taking a group back in the last week of the season.

Good luck this spring.

Mike
