The 19th Annual Youth & Women's Pheasant hunt was held December 10 at Glen Elder. Hosted by KDWPT in partnership with Pass It On - Outdoor Mentors, local NWTF and PF Chapters and the Waconda Lake Association, over 35 youth and women hunters spent the day hunting and shooting with some former NFL football players as well as some active duty military personnel.
Pass It On - Outdoor Mentors brought 7 youths to the hunt, including several who are still waiting to be matched to an Outdoor Mentor. We were very proud of these kids when several of them were called out for "safe hunter" awards by the hunt masters. The hunters were divided into 7 groups and the hunt masters were asked to recognize those hunters who displayed notable actions of safe hunting.
The longest tail feather award was won by a young lady on her 1st pheasant hunt. Savinnah is the step-daughter of one of the first youth to be mentored in the Pass It On - Outdoor Mentors program.
