  • JMD if you are talking about the reserve hunts you should always put in for them. You will get a property all to yourself. Most have lots of pheasants on them. I'v sat and watched two sets of hunters work a couple of those areas up in Benton Co and they flushed dozens of birds and in one case close to if not more than 100. My buddy got on one last year and invited me. The local guys I know in that area told me it was the worst one that Indiana has. We saw 4 pheasants, 3 hens a one nice cock that my buddy missed clean.

I do quite a bit of quail hunting south of you around Rushville, Shellbyville, St. Paul. Last season wasn't too good but when we've had snow we have had some really spectacular days (at least for us).
Hey Phil - sorry, didn't notice this message on here. I am just south of greenfield proper out in the middle of some corn/bean fields but the phez pop is 0! Too many predators I guess. My father-in-law farms and there's a covey or two of bobwhites scattered around his land my lab & I work every fall. I'll buy a dozen or two pen raised and throw em out too but again too many preds to stick...have you ever put in for the DNR phez hunts here in Indy? I've thought about it a few times, but never have - figured may be too crowded. I am getting ready for our annual trip to SD on 10/21...can't get here soon enough.
