It has been a while. Some may enjoy it.
Date hunted November 8, 2025:
I took my grandson for the youth duck hunt on our lease in SE Louisiana. Unfortunately, conditions could not have been much worse. Fog on the way down to the marina where the boat is caused us to wait a while before it was safe to go. It cleared up some for the boat ride and as it sometimes does after we were set up the fog came back. Not good for ducks. After the fog burned off from the sun no wind at all. More, not good for duck hunting.
Despite the conditions a few ducks were on the move during the morning and Mason shot real well for only his second duck hunt. Most impressive was two spoonbills came in and he shot both of them. He shot four other teal and we lost one in the lilies that would have given him his limit. He ended up with two spoonies and three teal.
He told me he had a lot of fun and is ready to go back again for more action. And, he has video of the hunt to show his girlfriend and friends at school.
