Where to get homers

I'm in need of some homing pigeons for dog training in the next couple of months. Anyone know where I can get any? If I have to catch them how do I go about doing so? Thanks in advance.

Do you already have a loft built?
You can keep an eye on Craigslist, but there doesn't seem to be many available this year.
You can trap regular feral/wild pigeons too. Check out 'Lion Country Supply'
for a pigeon trap or do some searches and you can make your own.

If you have a loft, and you do get some feral pigeons, if they nest and lay eggs, they'll home just like homers. And, the young born in the loft will naturally home too. Homers just naturally home from a further distance.
So, if you train on your own property, it wouldn't make much difference, but if you're training any considerable distance from the loft, it's a gamble with ferals.

I saw an ad on Craig's list - Topeka for $5.00 a bird for white homers. Enjoy.
