West River

Heading to West River this weekend past Pierre. Any reports from that area from opening weekend? Last year birds were down but still had good hunting. Farmers are telling me they don't know bird numbers yet as crops are still up. Shoot straight!

Our farmer said they will start harvesting today. They have not touched any crops yet.

Looking at the forecast I would say every combine in SD will be rolling and going full tilt this week heading in to next. The landscape will be changing daily and thus where the birds are will also.

Hunted both West and East of river. Far Higher concentration of birds East river as has been the case for me the last 8 yrs, but there are pockets of birds West river.

The area we hunted had all the crops in but we still managed our birds. From what we could tell birds are up from last year a good amount. As always great to go hunt in SD.
