Guessing not too much mud in the equation for crop harvest. Soybeans should be first up on the crop harvest report! Winter Wheat planting after that and then onto corn harvest. If its real dry that all happens at the same time.

Looking for a report of first soybean combine rolling.

SOUTH DAKOTA CROP PROGRESS AND CONDITION

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. September 11, 2017 – For the week ending September 10, 2017, silage cutting and late-season haying continued under mostly dry conditions, according to the USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service. Producers began seeding winter wheat in parts of the State. Temperatures were seasonally cool early in the week with light frost reported in low-lying areas of the southwest. Corn and soybean maturity ratings continued to lag behind last year and average. There were 6.6 days suitable for fieldwork. Topsoil moisture supplies rated 18 percent very short, 28 short,
53 adequate, and 1 surplus. Subsoil moisture supplies rated 27 percent very short, 33 short, 39 adequate, and 1 surplus.

Field Crops Report: Corn condition rated 10 percent very poor, 16 poor, 31 fair, 39 good, and
4 excellent. Corn dough was 97 percent, equal to both last year and the five-year average. Dented was
60 percent, well behind 80 last year, and behind 78 average. Corn mature was 4 percent, behind 17 last year and 21 average.

Soybean condition rated 5 percent very poor, 12 poor, 33 fair, 43 good, and 7 excellent. Soybeans dropping leaves was 26 percent, behind 42 last year and 44 average.

Sorghum condition rated 15 percent very poor, 19 poor, 52 fair, 14 good, and 0 excellent. Sorghum coloring was 59 percent, well behind 85 last year and 83 average. Mature was 10 percent, behind 28 last year and 18 average.

Sunflowers condition rated 6 percent very poor, 24 poor, 53 fair, 16 good, and 1 excellent. Sunflower ray flowers dried was 56 percent, ahead of 48 last year, but behind 62 average. Bracts turning yellow was 23 percent, ahead of 16 last year, but near 27 average. Bracts turning brown was 5 percent.

Alfalfa condition rated 26 percent very poor, 34 poor, 23 fair, 16 good, and 1 excellent. Alfalfa second cutting was 80 percent complete, behind 87 last year. Third cutting was 56 percent, behind 67 last year and 69 average.

Barley harvested was 76 percent.

Winter wheat planted was 5 percent, near 6 last year and 9 average.

Pasture and Range Report: Pasture and range condition rated 24 percent very poor, 30 poor, 29 fair,
16 good, and 1 excellent.

Stock water supplies rated 20 percent very short, 34 short, 45 adequate, and 1 surplus.

Combine working beans half mile north of Stickney on east side of US 281 today
 
Talked to my father in law and they were going to start on beans on Wednesday if they didn't get any rain between now and then. Forecast looks like it might be a bit wet.
