Quail broods

Some good news, for the past month or two I've been seeing some very consistent broods of 6-10 chicks, some smaller some bigger but every pair of adults I've seen has chicks in tow. Today I saw 4 pairs within a half mile all with decent broods but this one really peaked my interest. A pair of valley quail with 6 valley chicks and 2 mountain quail chicks in tow! Never have seen that one before and the mountain quail were definitely part of the brood, adoptees I guess. This is a poor pic but you can see one of the mountain quail chicks in this pic, quite a bit bigger than the rest of his brood mates.:cheers:

I saw one big brood dove hunting and heard 3 other calls from different locations. Pretty excited!
