Broods/wheat harvest

The wheat is starting to come out in South Central. I was around McPherson and Hutch today and it looked pretty short. Hopefully the yields are better than they look. The cover looks surprisingly good considering how dry it is. The corn is looking pretty rough. The heat has been relentless considering we’re just now getting to mid-June. Let’s pray for some summer relief!

Wheat has been cut as far north as Clay Center. The yields are variable from 15 to 50 with 30 to 35 being common. I can't speak for pheasants as I haven't been out west or talked to anyone out there, but I did see some quail chicks a day or two old this evening. Good chances for rain statewide next week which should be good for the phez and quail.

just wondering if the rains have slowed the wheat harvest in the NC and NW?

Yes it has. My wheat in Finney County is ready but they are waiting a few days for the ground to solid up. The showers have slowed them down since harvest began.
