Birch lake

Has anyone done any quail hunting in and around the Birch lake public areas? I've done some camping there for several years and its just a few miles down the road from my granddads house. I remember while camping there three years ago having bobs all around us and coming right into camp with us. I know this is going to be a poor year for quail, but any info would be appreciated!

There is quail there, but it does get a bit of pressure. You saw birds in the NO HUNTING area if you were camping. That's not to say you can't get them first.

I'm just a few miles from there and I have never hunted it. I hunt a ranch out in Osage Co that is usually pretty good. It's similar habitat, so I'd think it would be alright. It's not ODWC land, but it is Corps of Engineers property. I believe they used to have pretty decent sized maps (11X14) at that little convenience store in Barnsdall.

I have thought about checking it out for some bow hunting, but never have.

Thanks for the replies! I may try to head down that way this season and stay with my grandpa in Barnsdall.
