Bad Day

My sincere condolences on the loss of your loved one. I lost two shorthairs within two months of each other to the vehicle, also, back in 2005. That spring I put in the invisible fence.

I extend my sincere condolences.

Sad

A similar occurence happened to my friends young lab.

It is a tragic loss at any age. To see unlimited potential cut short.

Deepest condolences

PBF

Sorry for your loss.

I am sorry for your loss. It hurts when you lose a friend.

I'm sorry you lost him, my family lost a beautiful lab last fall and were still missing him. Best wishes.

Never easy to lose a family member. Have three buried in the yard. Been mostly a multi-dog family so we've always had others around at the time to comfort us, to some extent. Awfully hard to dig that hole. Talked to a lot of people that refrain from getting another dog because of the pain of losing one. Like I said, I know it isn't easy, but despite all the sorrow I choose to live with the memories, the joys, the triumphs from the field, and, will find room in my heart to always have a faithful companion for the rest of my days.
That tv commercial has a kid showing his parents he needs a dog because it will teach him responsibility, and, that dog people live longer. My grandpa lived to 96 and he didn't have a dog. We have 3 so I should live to be at least a hundred and ten.
Don't let the pain deter you from building another relationship, but rather be a foundation to build upon...when the time is right for you.

PS: Like Thrasher's quote, they do give us their all

Well I lost my buddy today. He was out this morning while I was at work and when my Dad beeped him with his collar to come back he came across the road and got hit by a car. He didn't make it. He was just over a year old and had one season under his belt. He was a GSP.

Here's a vid of a friend of mine helping me train him this summer.

just thinking about you lately, wondering how you are doing. Wife is on her way back from the vet with Schultzie, has some kind of blockage in his right ear with some kind of palsy affecting the right side of his face. Whatever it takes...always something

Sorry man :(. Wipe some tears away from your cheek and say your good bye. Remember the fun, and go pick your self out a pup. It is the only way to heal. Had a man tell me that when I was younger, and from then on out found it to be true. If not with them, our huntin buds would want us out there with another. Take care

Words are tough to express

So Sorry for your loss.
On this day, know that many on the board has been through exactly what you have experienced.
One of my good friends, lost his 2 year pup in the exact same manner.

I lost a 4 yr dog in the (freakiest, never ever to be repeated ) drowning nearly 23 years ago and think about that dog very very often.

If it is any consolation, You are not alone, everyone here shares your grief.

Very sorry to hear this sad news.

Thanks for all the posts guys. Haven't check this thread in a while. Just wanted to post a pic of my new puppy Kooper. He's 6 months old.

Congrats! Way to go, nice looking pup. Where did you get him, and how long have you had him? Ever consider electric fence?

Got him from Mabe Kennels in Odell, Illinois. I live a couple miles from them. Yes, I considered an electric fence but I actually ended up building a large kennel out the back door of my house so he can't go anywhere unless I'm with him.
