Abe Lincoln was famous for storytelling and jokes. Here's one:

After the Revolutionary War, U.S. military leader Ethan Allen was among some Englishmen for a time. His English acquainances put a likeness of George Washington in the outhouse. Allen said nothing. Finally, one Englishman asked Allen if he had noticed. Allen said he had. The Englishman asked what reaction he had to it, and Allen replied, "I think it's an excellent idea because nothing will make an Englishman sh*t faster than the sight of General Washington."
