10 foot corn in drought country

One of my camps is in a county listed as natural disaster area in SD. Really dry early on but getting some rains now. Their production corn is 100 bushel and acre in a really good year.

He texted me pictures of his corn food plots that are roundup ready seed we get and said the stuff was over 10 feet tall. Taller than their production corn?

He asked if it was silage corn. I told him I don't know anything about variety but assumed if RR it was production grain corn.

Silage varieties are usually much taller. And of course, they are also RR.

10 foot tall corn --- NOT fun to hunt , offers no more cover for birds than 5 foot tall corn. Being in the seed business - more than likely the tall (out of date) silage was cheaper seed. No reason the tall silage corn could not be RR.

But when there's five feet of snow !
