    Help with Dilemma?

I've got a bit of a problem, not sure how to handle it. My 12th wedding anniversary is coming up, November 7th to be exact. But, have an invite for private wild bird hunt (10,000 contiguous acres) full of gorgeous habitat, have done extremely well there the last 2 years when I was also...

    KDWP app heads up

Dad works out at a local gym and local game warden is often in there. He pointed out that the original KDWP app "HuntFishKS" is no longer functionall and you have to now use "GoOutdoorsKS". Frustrating to me having to change stuff around, but I guess the new one is cheaper for the state to...

Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks….not tourism

Not sure if this was discussed on here or not. I noticed on their Facebook page tourism has been dropped from the name, so I asked why. ————————— Quote: Higreat question! An Executive Reorganization Order, which was passed during this year's legislative session, relocated Tourism to the Kansas...

    2021 youth Gobbler action

My 10 year old boy has now had 3 years in a row of opening day success. This one was 10" beard, 1 5/16" spurs, used his hand me down single shot .410 loaded with BossTom TSS #9s. He was doing a bit of stunt shooting this year, long range at 18 yards. Last year it was at about 6 yards...

    How was it?

6 guys. 4 dogs. Daylight to almost dark. All WIHA where we’ve shot limits in years past, 2 pheasants and 3 quail. Talked to two different farmers that said the numbers are just terrible. One said a month ago he was combining milo and was seeing birds a bit bigger than a quail. 81 degrees wasn’t...

    Fire reports?

Seeing some Facebook posts about fires out west. One had a pic of a rooster in a fiend next to a fireman in his suit. Anybody effected?

    Last hunt of our season

Didn't shoot limits, but beats sitting on the couch at home. After the first pass we thought it was going to be a real good day. Point on a large covey of quail, points on singles, and a few hens, and then a rooster jumped wild as well. Its always fun when you start walking a field, in it a...

    Worth the trip at least

Hunted Sunday, on dads birthday. Four of us on WIHA's where we hunted opening weekend. A couple hundred yards in have a point on a hen that held solid, then a double handful of birds get up ahead of us as we make the first pass. My shorthair goes on point at the end 20 yards from me and a...

    Beats working

Dad and I left his house at 4:30 this morning. One restroom break in between and we were at the first field at 8am meeting up with bro in law and niece and nephew. Had 2 blow out wild, and a hen. Then get a solid point 30 yards ahead. I see a flash on the ground, think it's a rabbit, relax...

    Anybody like knives?

Buying custom knives is almost as bad as buying guns, once you've got the first one, the rest just seem to multiply. My latest- Gene Ingram "Kingfisher", S30V steel, mosaic pins, Tasmanian Blackwood scales, Kydex crossdraw sheath. 4.25" blade length, 8.625 OAL. I'm thinking it will filet the...

    My sister, the hoarder

View from their front porch. In a 'non' pheasant area of the state, where we've shot a few in the last 10 years or so.

    Russell Moccasin

Anybody bit the bullet and bought some customized to your foot? I've got a funky protrusion out the back of my heel and boots just eat me up. Been thinking about dropping $400 for a pair. Their website says they can customize to fit funky protrusions on the back of your heel (my words, not...

    Count Down to 11-8

    Meindl Light Hunter

(or whatever their name is), looks a lot like Danner Pronghorn. Anybody have them? Any reviews? Dad's got a pair of the Meindl Perfekt Hunter (heavier, mountaineering type) that he thinks is great, but too much boot in the pheasant fields. Building my wish list right now....

    Sunday afternoon quail hunt

Had about 3 hours to kill yesterday afternoon and ended with this near my house here in Missouri. 2 pointed coveys and a pointed single, 3 birds with 4 shots from the 60 year old Ithaca 37 16 guage. Unfortunately, worked and worked to find the first bird that fell in a bramble thicket and...

What do you use? What do you want?

I've got two shotguns I typically carry, my go-to gun for when there is killing that needs done is a Beretta Al391 Urika. Field version, walnut stock. A joy to carry, a joy to shoot. Bought it new in 2003 and have never looked back. I don't even glance at the shotgun racks of gunshops now...
