    USFWS Onx Changes

There where some issues with the information on Onx showing information on the NWR's in the Dakotas that might mislead some hunters to think the refuges are wide open to hunting. Thankfully Onx is a great company and was more than willing to help make these changes. Some of the problems showed...

    Late Season Advice

Sand Lake opens 12/11/2023 this year. Bird numbers are way down in that part of the county but still probably pretty good compared to where most non residents are coming from. From the reports I am hearing they are preparing for 100 plus vehicles this year for the opener. Sounds like it could...

Turkey Day hunt with son. Memories...

Dry Aging (possession limit vs daily limit)

Burdon of proof is upon the government. If your legally licensed, your legal. Now if you have 16 birds that all have the same internal body temp then you might have to answer some questions.

I might head out today and will report. Last week I picked a WPA in Edmunds and shot 3 in 15 minutes. I went out the next day for an hour and didn't flush anything close enough to shoot.

Why do the wildlife folks cut every tree

Tree row removal has more to do with increasing unfragmented nesting Habitat for all grassland nesting birds. Federal property especially has a focus on threatened species like grasshopper sparrows and bobolinks. Those species will avoid trees. Russian olives and Chinese elms are very invasive...

Does South Dakota law enforcement use pheasant decoys?

They do it when the situation warrants especially when there is a legit safety concern with the landowner. These operations require higher up approvals with approved Operation plans.
