    Hate to have to put the boots on the dog, it's along process. Didn't do well opening sat, I think I was around young birds as they looked like hens. I finally took a shot around 10am and my 870 blew up. Old guy didn't check the bore before loading.A few nicks,no serious injuries.Day was done...

    Corn still standing

    Made a run to the KS border ( hwy 40) and noticed a lot of corn has not been harvested . I think the fields are to wet. Also the sand burrs are everywhere. Better get the dog boots out. Saw a few birds at a distance.:cheers:

    Replace hunting buddy

    The GWP listed in the resent post looked to good to be true, but I am still have hope. Lots of interest in the dog. Sure would like to talk with the owners. I have dealt with the same trainer Ben Garcia. Meanwhile I'll keep looking

    Beware of Bloat

    I fed my GWP (90+lbs) to soon after exercise and he died of bloat that evening. I learned the hard way. check out bloat on the gun dog forum,. I have so much dog training equipment on hand I will probably have to come up with a new hunting partner. Big decision as I am approaching 85 yrs.

    5yr old GWP Went to a better place.

    My 90+ GWP up and died on me. Looks as if he was victim of Bloat. He was a barrel chested guy. I ran him in the afternoon and fed him an hour or so later; I didn't know this was a no no. Anyway he came down with bloat, which i had never heard of. He died that evening. I have since learned about...
