Who has lost one or found one in the parking lot?

One additional fairly frightening story for both my dog and myself. This October, I was hunting with my son in law, we were a mile or more from one another and I had limited out, so I was hustling back to the truck which was several miles from me. Along the way my dog went on point. I just...

Who has lost one or found one in the parking lot?

Funny story.....I have never shot a Stoeger 3500, so while hunting with a friend who has one, I borrow his for a morning. I apologize to anyone who has one of these guns but damn. it is big and clunky and for some reason could not get it to connect with a bird. So, whether it was subconscious...

    Getting Old Sucks

I’ll know more this Tuesday. I meet with the orthopedic surgeon then. Who knows, with a little luck, I might get out one more weekend before the season ends.

    Getting Old Sucks

Well, I believe I’m done for the year. A life time of hard use has used up the miniscus in my left knee. I’ve had my right knee done a couple of years ago. So, surgery later this month and 10 months to dream of next season. This is not the way I wanted to end my hunting season, but everyone...

    Utah and it's habitat

In my opinion, all the comments in this thread have some merit and all have a hand in struggling upland bird hunting in Utah. I would add urbanization to the list as a reason for struggling upland bird issues in Utah. You add urbanization with the increasing competition for water in the second...

    Saw another 105# dog.

I have a friend who seems to have two requirements for his dogs. 1. It has to be as large as possible 2. It must be a male I never understood it, from my experience larger dogs seem to wear out (hips, eyes etc) sooner.

    Slowing your dog

I had a lab once that was impossible to slow down once she got on a hot pheasant smell. It all would happen so quickly that I didn't really have time to know or understand what was going on before it was over. I learned to keep an eye on her at all times and pace myself to her all the time...

    Small Munsterlander

I hunted with a guy who ran one. It was a tall lanky dog with an extremely long tail and ranged like nothing I’ve ever seen. I thought the dog hunted for itself and was not the friendliest dog. Perhaps they are one person dogs because this one wanted no part of me or my dog. Additionally, I...

    Golden retriever only photos

This is Oakley. She is the only Golden Retriever that I have ever hunted around and she was incredible. Her and my Griffon were one hell of a team on upland birds. She got cancer this last fall and died quickly. She was a remarkable retriever and one hell of a brush pounder on upland birds.

Another year shot to hell and time for January/February chukar hunting.

I guess lastly they only fly down hill, usually going faster than any other game bird that I have ever hunted. They are a pretty amazing bird to hunt. After every day hunting them, I feel like I’ve run a marathon

Another year shot to hell and time for January/February chukar hunting.

They like to live in as steep and rocky country as they can find and would rather run then fly and they only run in one direction, straight up and they don’t stop until they get to the very top of wherever they are. They then fly down…….all the way down, sometimes miles down. You really don’t...

    Hunting solo tactics

Well hell! I sincerely hope all of the loud hunters on this site are hunting just adjacent to where I’m hunting. I need all the help I can get and a few extra birds pushed my way by folks coaxing their dogs and BSing with each other doesn’t hurt my chances.
