    Roadside Survey is Out

The state forecast and the Pheasants Forever forecast don’t seem to jive…. Having said that I know someone northeast of dodge a ways and they are seeing more than they have in a few years. But that’s up from next to nothing two years ago.

any advice on how to scout WIHI remotely using technology?

OnX works pretty well for Kansas. Not sure you'd be able to tell what kind of habitat it has though. Boots on the ground is about the best way and miles in the truck. In all seriousness though, if I were driving from NC I wouldn't be going to KS.

I had access to private from about 2017 to 2022 in an area we hunted WIHA exclusively back in the early 2000s. We would be lucky for 5 guys to kill 10 to 12 birds opening weekend in these same areas. Back in the 2000s we were limiting opening weekend on WIHA. No comparison to back then. Kept...

    Section line roads.

OnX is really accurate for SD. At least that is my one experience. I do like looking at the atlas though!

    Section line roads.

I requested a pheasant packet last year and a friend did as well and received them. I requested one a few weeks ago and haven't received one. I'd like a paper atlas. I filled out the form on their site like I did last year.

I'm sure you could make it work here and there. But a lot of the properties don't go to the other end of the section. I assume the guys blocking would have to walk around to the other end ahead of you guys.... Go online and look at their maps for your area. That'll give you an idea of how...

They don't seem to be in any hurry to get the forecast out. In the mid 2000s, Kansas was as good or better than what I experienced in South Dakota last year. Some good times.

    Looking for expert opinions

Last year was my first year up there and most of the public was suited for 4 to 5 or so if you were spread out walking. I’m sure there are bigger areas. I think maybe a bigger issue is public land birds being spooky and many running way out or flying by the time a group that size is...

I know what you mean now. Yes it goes around the bronze piece before you slide it on to the magazine. At least that's how I've always done that. So from the receiver out try: Spring/ring with bevel up/friction ring. See how that cycles... If necessary put the ring below the spring against...

Can you post a picture? I can look at my 20 manual this afternoon and post pics. It is essentially the same setup as an Auto 5. Not sure what you are referring to as a retainer spring...

I think they discontinued the 12 several years before the 20 or 28. Honestly, you shouldn't need any parts unless you lose a ring or wear out the recoil spring. Running that gun in the heavy setting (if it'll cycle what you're shooting) will help prevent losing any rings. Might check ebay...

Midwest Pheasant Harvest - 24 Seasons

I was thinking soil bank but wasn’t sure when it ended. That’s a dramatic drop. I thought it ended earlier.

Midwest Pheasant Harvest - 24 Seasons

What happened in South Dakota between 1963 and 1964? Weather event? Assuming that's not a typo.... it has never been close to that since.

How many ounces of shot were in their 2 3/4 16 gauge loads? 1 1/4? I accidentally bought a box of the 3/5 from them last year thinking they were 5s.
