    Vetting Breeders

I would start by going to my breed of choices website and see what they require for health clearances. Next I would check out their website, personally big fancy websites scare me off as usually they are loaded with fluff and little substance. I would then want to meet the sire and Dam. I do...

Here's my trips I've planned for fall.

The dogs and I are heading to Habitat Flats in Summer Missouri October 2 to train for a few days and get acclimated to the climate and terrain. And then we are off to Sedalia Missouri to compete in the National Derby Retriever Championship starting October 6th! Then western SD for opener...

Different types of scenting in dogs.

I always went by the old rule of thumb. But after thinking about it I think the rule of thumb might be crap. Some breeds certainly are more skilled at tracking and do so by scenting the ground as it holds scent longer than airborne scent. But put a springer and a English setter down wind of a...

    Truck caps

I have a buddy with one and it is really nice. I couldn't fit one with my drawer system and dog box.

    Truck caps

I just bought an ARE for my new truck. So far I am very impressed with the quality. I did get it with carpet on the inside, single handle back window, and sportsman side windows (they open, have screens, and door locks). I didn't get any lights as the OEM box lights seem to do a great job.

    food

Amen I bet Purina invests more into animal nutrition research than all the boutique (Blue Buffalo, Farmers Dog etc) food brands combined. I feed Nutriscource for many reasons but if I had to switch Pro Plan would be it.

    Dogs Change, I Guess

Hormone imbalance? I knew a gentle sweet ferret that suddenly wasn't. Turned out she was producing Testosterone. Minor surgery and back to her old self

    Lucky Duck dog kennel?

I won a Gunner, similar to a Lucky duck. I sold it as it was to cumbersome for a "portable" crate. You may want to check out the Dakota 283 kennels. They are a great in-between kennel, more than a Ruffland and not quite a lucky duck.

    Worried about my Lucy.

While the Lyme vaccine is good its not perfect. Well worth the trip to the vet.

    Dog siezures

Agreed, maybe awry is a stretch. But Citori16 wants to make it about labs and EIC or CNM. And I bit... I should know better.

    Dog siezures

CNM Canine Nero Myopathy (sp) is lose of muscle tone and to some extent control too, it is hereditary but has zero to do with seizures. EIC can effect any breed. It was common in Labradors and to a lesser extent goldens. It has pretty much been eliminated by responsible breeding. FYI At the...

    Dog siezures

Like so many threads this one has gone awry. The 1 "assumed" seizure I saw had relatively few physical symptoms. The dogs legs were stretched out straight and would move randomly kind of like having cramps. The jaw did the same thing, all the while the dog stared off at nothing. A minute...

    Dog siezures

I've seen a dog have what I was told was a Grand Mal seizure once. The person that told it was Grand Mal seizure had no medical training other than she was a Pharmacist. The dog was very stiff with a some uncontrolled leg, and jaw movement. It only lasted maybe a minute or so, the dog was...

    Dog siezures

Unless I missed something no one has said it was a lab. Seizures are unfortunately fairly common in all breeds. Plus EIC would be nearly impossible to confuse with seizures. Not sure what you are trying to say?
