    Possession Limit

Same. I vacuum seal most of my game birds. I used to vacuum seal fish filets too, but I haven't hardly kept fish for years and the ones I did keep I ate freshly caught. I would estimate that probably half of the pheasants I harvest every season I give away to family or friends, or landowners...

    Possession Limit

I really wish Minnesota would put a halt to party hunting for deer. I don't care about the birds but deer hunters should not be able to harvest more than one buck every season. They should be able to fill their own tag and ONLY their tag. A lot of deer hunters complain about the lack of...

    Possession Limit

Well played @Munster927. Just because someone harvests more birds and hunts in multiple states does not mean they are exempt from keeping track and following the law. I for one would like to see more enforcement officers out there both in the field/forests, and on the lakes/rivers.

    Possession Limit

Benelli Banger, most of your posts are informative and helpful. This one is not. Taking meds and maxing out retirement has nothing to do with following the law. The rest of do not care if you take your daily medicine. You are basically admitting to poaching on a public forum with this...

    Possession Limit

Poaching is poaching. Whether you have exceeded the daily bag limit or the possession limit, you are in violation of the rules. One is not worse than the other. They often go hand in hand too. If a person violates one, they are quite often violating the other and a game officer will know this.

    SE Louisiana Teal Opener 2021

I have waterfowl hunted for 23 years and in the early morning light, they are difficult to tell apart sometimes. Going by size or wing beat is not always completely accurate. The only way to tell them apart is by determining color, which you may not be able to distinguish before you shoot. So...

    SE Louisiana Teal Opener 2021

Minnesota just had its first early teal season. By written accounts in a local weekly outdoor column, there was a crap load of violations. And those were only the ones who were caught. There was likely a lot more. Hunters must not have been able to accurately identify teal from wood ducks...

    Possession Limit

My old man has been lax on removing rounds from his magazine for years while travelling even though I frequently have warned him about it. Two years ago he finally got busted on it. Since its his first violation, he will not have any hunting privileges removed but he had to pay a stiff fine...

    Possession Limit

If you want to stock pile your freezer with pheasants, fish, etc, you do it at your own risk. The day you buy a hunting or angling license is the day you agree to voluntarily follow the laws associated with it, including possession limits. If I knew someone was over the possession limit I...

    Roadside Survey

Although I do look at the prospects map, I base most of my predictions based on personal information like you also do, benelli-banger. I hunt a very specific area that is on private land with no other hunters. If I see a lot of hens while I'm hunting and winter is relatively mild, I have...

    Roadside Survey

I expected to see a minor decrease from last season. 25% is more than I expected, but we are in the worst drought since 1988.

    Bare shelves

Agreed, 3 inchers and light weight shotguns don't mix. I won't shoot anything but a 2 3/4 inch through my Montrefelto either because of the massive recoil.

    Steel Shot

I wasn't specifically referring to a Remington choke/shotgun. I may have missed that part of the thread if that is what's being referred to. I was only trying to point out that its worth looking at the choke to ensure it can be used with a steel shot.

    Steel Shot

Make sure the choke is ok to use with steel too. It will indicate right on the choke if its "Steel OK." Since its harder than lead, it could damage the choke if the choke isn't designed for it. I have several chokes that are not acceptable to use with steel.

    Newby from Minnesota

Don't be afraid to head north or northwest instead. The Alexandria area may not have as many birds, but you will surely encounter far less hunting pressure too. Everyone's always heading southwest or west towards the Dakotas. Get off that beaten path.

    Shortage of shot shells

I found some last month. Simply looking online isn't going to cut it. Many retailers aren't even updating their current inventory since it sells so quickly anyways. Get your shoes on and go physically look at shelves in the store. It may require a fair amount of time and running around but...

    Opener Etiquette

Inclement weather will keep a lot of people out of the field or off the lake. I generally hunt and fish to avoid other people, not run into them. Wait until the Monday or Tuesday after opener and you will probably see a fraction of the hunters you would on opening day.

    Shells? Bring Money

Some retailers are not updating their online inventory accurately. If you are able to, its worth physically going into a retailer to check their supply instead of just looking online. The stuff on the shelf tends to get bought pretty quickly so updating it online is often not accurate anyways.
