Heartfelt condolences to you and your family. The good thing is that there is another dog waiting for a loving family to be part of.

To many roosters keep the hens and young birds away from the food in tough winters. They are also fighting instead of breeding.

I think roosters are always more visible than hens. I hope those ratios seen are very high. I've always heard 1 rooster to 8-10 hens is plenty but doubt it is ever like that.

That's a nice long tail. I never really measure tails but if I got one unusually long I'd most likely put a tape on it. I give the tails to fly tiers, and my grandson to sword fight with :)
