I've never had to do much for barb wire, I just walk them through it the first few times and they are good. The fence that scares me is the 2 strands of barb wire with hog panel below obscured with grass and weeds. They get used to splitting the strands down low, and then hit the hog panel.

15 Months, I bet the pup just plain over did it and will be moving fine in less than a day. Additionally I have found that about 1/2 the maximum dosage of Rimidyl is all it takes for pain from overdoing it. But at 15 months I don't think you need any meds just some rest.

The only thing I would add is I use a clipped wing pigeon for the mark. The idea being that the greatest thing in the world (clipped wing pigeon) and gunfire go hand in hand.

Cleaned with a leg attached in a cooler on ice, is the best way to go. I hate to get home and thaw a frozen bird to finish cleaning it. After a few days on ice they will not be frozen and are super easy to finish cleaning.
