    Shooting Woes - Help Needed

Where the dog is depends on a litany of variables. Thickness of cover, wildness of birds, which dog specifically you're talking about and their energy level at that point in time. Also I didn't make this post or the video here so not sure what you're referring to. That being said, standing on a...

    Pheasants Forever Banquet Ideas

A flat of shells is a great idea. I know most gun raffles I see are for guns I would never use. Oddball pistols and cheap Turkish shotguns. I've bid on nice gun cases and also prize packages from the local butcher at last years banquet.

    Shooting Woes - Help Needed

Trigger time on clays helps and will improve your game shooting. But they definitely have differences. I find it easier to hit a clay than a live bird.

One thing about a 28, it has great snob appeal.

    Season Wrap Up

I think you need to set a new goal next year. Buy an out of state license and hunt kansas. Why would you leave home. One word. BLUE BACKS. So two but kinda one.

    Lewistown, MT are there birds?

Lewiston if you've got a nice private ranch is good. But Hilger is even better.

    Family

Here's what you need to do goose, cause I know you're taking about your cousin. Ease into a conversation with him, and go over gun safety with him, all of it. You were in the army and always hunted so you know this stuff inside and out. If he listens that's good, you guys can keep hunting...

    Loosing birds

Some days it's ditches, an auto chock full of hi-brass magnums and a dusty old hoodie, that's low-bagger. Others it's a shiny new O/U, an orvis coat, hunt cherry private land and only shoot birds the dog puts up. All while looking down my nose at poor provincial sods and city-slickers alike...

    Loosing birds

Don't get me wrong, when you've got a 12 that fits you like yoga pants on a fat girl, or attempt to "reach out there" with you can lose or miss birds. If you've got two guns that fit equally well the larger bore is better in most every circumstance. The question is by how much. I've got no...

    Loosing birds

A larger bore simply does it better. Modern ammo has definitely blurred the lines between the gauges. You can find all kinds of overstuffed shotshells in subgauges now. If you take an ounce of lead it'll pattern better out of a 12 than a 20 if you control all the variables. Will this really make...

What produces recoil? Velocity or payload?

I think someone earlier in this thread was just "shooting from the hip." But at least I know Hornady includes the weight of the wad in the payload. As they only produce buckshot and slugs in the shotgun dept. this info comes in really handy for bird hunting.

This happened on the last trip

Yeah I was wondering how insurance works on a deal like that. And if they try to find cause of death, i.e. a disease that could spread in the herd. I'll ask relatives about it who have cattle, but probably won't see them for a few months.

Spot on captain obvious. We took no shots near cattle on our hunt.

What produces recoil? Velocity or payload?

Recoil doesn't "bother" me when hunting, as in it's not painful. I remember turkey hunting with an inertia gun and having to twist around a bit because of course the turkey came in from a direction I had not anticipated. I was in a weird crouch position and had to let a few rounds go before I...

South - Southeast SD bird numbers?

Send goose a PM if you want Molly to get good practice on catching running cripples. I'm sure the spots he walked have plenty. 💩
