    2021 Bird Hunting Pics/Reports

Hunted a piece today with my new dog. It was his first pheasant hunt. The public piece had several other hunters working the fields. My pup didn’t find any live birds, but recovered a crippled dead rooster. Hopefully next time he’ll get his first point while hunting.

Not the greatest photo, but Parker is locked on point from about 20’. In today’s session he held his points well and even found a bonus wild chucker. He was running hard and appeared to really be enjoying himself. Today was also his first time hunting with a bell. He did great. I’m hoping to...

Dogwood Brittany’s, Binny x Hailey. Just took him out training today. Planted 4 quail. He held is points solid, retrieved and recalled to hand with the birds. For a family dog first, hunting dog second, couldn’t be happier with his progress. He and I have made strides this summer. He’s...

    E-collar help!..

Correct, it’s been about 3 weeks now. The 3 year old analogy is the easiest way to explain what I’ve experienced, unless that is, you’ve never witnessed a 3 year old completely oblivious to a parent asking them to do something...... He’s a lover and pleaser already. He’s happy to obey...

    E-collar help!..

Thanks for the responses. He does know all the commands and executes them darn near perfect in controlled places (inside). This includes e-collar work. Outside he will also obey without distractions around. This includes e collar and whistle commands. It’s when there is a bird or smell that...

    E-collar help!..

I have a 10 month old started Brittany and am having issues with recall outdoors. His indoor recall is great, but when he's outside, not so much. Indoors he will recall to e-collar and also heel, woah and place (bed) with stimulation. Outside with distraction he will not respond, unless the...

    Familys First Bird Dog

Our family settled on a Brittany for several reasons. Mild temper, friendly/pleasing behavior, size and natural hunting ability. We have a 9 month old that is a bit spunky, but is friendly and loves being around people.

Here’s one more. The first week has been a challenge with a few house accidents and disobedience, but it’s getting better. We are doing daily obedience training and he loves searching for birds in the marsh.

Well, I got a started pup from Dogwood Brittanys in IL. His name is Parker. He certainly is still a puppy and loves to socialize and play with the family. Outside he has very strong bird drive and is always hunting. Other than two accidents inside, it’s been good.

    Pull the trigger?

Thanks for the kind words. Hopefully I will be bringing this Brittany home next week too! Was going to wait for a puppy, but a good kennel in IL informed me that they had this started pup for sale. He’s 9 months old. Fingers crossed the visit goes well!

Thank you for the tips guys. I have three kennels in mind. If I don’t get a pup by late summer, I’ll wait until spring 2022.

    Brittany search

I just found out this morning that I won’t be getting a Britt as anticipated. Mother gave birth yesterday and there were not enough males for us to bring one home. Now I’m left searching for a new kennel with hopefully pups on the ground, or a litter coming soon. Hoping you guys can help out...

    Pull the trigger?

Well, here it is. Looking at the serial number it’s a 2006 525 28ga with 28” barrel. It came with 25 boxes (mix of field and target) of shells and 8 tubes. It’s my first O/U. Was $1,500 out the door fair? Guess it doesn’t matter now, as I already purchased it!
