I have hunted prairie chickens in SD for 15 years. I hunt some private and public lands around Pierre. Hope you like LOTS of walking, and I mean many miles a day. But I would rather that than work......

OK. thanks for the information. That's pretty much how I would hunt. Guess this coming season will be sparse, unless some good summer rains materialize.

I come to SD every year hunting prairie grouse & pheasants. I stay in Chamberlain. Nice little town w/ nice people. it is the highlight of my hunting season.
Over time, we may be able to abandon actual shooting - collect a limit without firing a shot.
Had a Brittany that would do that to preserve (read fat) pheasants. Would catch them in mid air!
I agree to snake training. It works, but I still had two of my setters bit around the house. The were putting their nose in holes. Trained them out of that as well, now.
