Doom and Gloom?

As of October 8, statewide corn harvest was only 6%, compared to an average of 29% at this time. My guess is that by the week of Nov. 4, the statewide corn harvest will be below 50%. Average at that time is about 85%. In east central SD, everybody's working on their beans. I'd estimate the corn harvest in this area as LESS than 6%. We've had lots of rain lately.

Even on good bird number years, if the crop is out, its extremely tough hunting. Hope the crops are taken out soon. We are mainly going for grouse, pheasant are just an added bonus bird for us. Hopefully the grouse faired better than the pheasant did this offseason.

was talking to our relatives that live near woonsocket, they had 300 acres of prime CRP that was ALL but 15 acres or so mowed/bailed for the drought. i have a license that is good for this year, but man, it sounds like if i do go out there, I will be putting alot of miles on to hit the public stuff
