Dog Got One UPDATE

This afternoon with the temp way up to the mid-20s went to a public area with food plots, shelter belts, etc. Saw lots of tracks and far flushers but no shots. As we (dog and I) were getting out of a milo patch on the way back to the rig I lost track of the dog. After some looking around there she was on point nearby in the milo. I walked up but no flush. Then I saw the cock nestled in the snow with dog's nose a foot away. Still no flush so I ordered fetch. Then the bird tried to fly but could not get fully airborne. Had no shot due to the dog running after it. Dog ran it down and it died. Saw no blood on it but it could be wounded or maybe it's sick or malnourished from the snows and sub-zero temps. Will know more when I dress it.

UPDATE: With the prevalence of avian flu, I thought better of dressing and eating this bird. It was unhealthy; why I don't know. Better to be safe.
