Benelli M1 Ejector question

Broke my ejector on my M1 for the third time in S.D two weeks ago. Called the gunsmith yesterday and he informed me that Benelli no longer will sell the parts to repair the ejector. He needed to send the gun/barrel to the factory for a modification per Benelli customer service. I was wondering if anybody else out there has had this experience and what the whole story is regarding this issue. I'm guessing that there must be a problem and this is how they plan on solving it with a factory repair. Thanks for any information.:)
 
I think there must be a problem. If it was a repair, the gunsmith could probably do it. But, if they call it a modification, then the factory probably needs to make sure its done properly. I have an M1, so I'm crossing my fingers. No problems so far.
