That is a great representation of how the pheasant hunting has gone into the toilet in Calif. on public hunting areas. Still hard to understand why since some private land still produces so many birds. I still think that all the mosquito abatement district's killing all invertebrates is a big contributor to the decline.
I hunted Sacramento Refuge last Wed. and there were roosters crowing at dark in the assigned blind area. I saw one mosquito total for the two half days and one night I was there. Very different than what is/was normal for these temperatures.
They have fall turkey hunting there now.
Almost all of the duck habitat at Grizzly Island was burned up recently so no cover out in the ponds.
