Next year Oklahoma will charge a 100 olap , walk in, fee. It also gets you access to timberlands in the east. Will this be the start of a new trend for walk in states? Oklahoma isn’t the first state you think of for walk in areas. But it could still be the start. Any thoughts for or against?

I’ve personally seen young birds here in western Ok about 2 weeks ago that probably wouldn’t have been seen in August surveys and I’ve heard a lot of similar stories. Hoping its better than it looked.

I usually try to do a dusky hunt in New Mexico or Colorado early Sept. Then mid October I had planned Montana but that may have to change. In November and December I’ll hunt at home in Western Oklahoma and travel to Kansas and Nebraska for sure. And I’ve been thinking of trying New Mexico quail.

How is the 2020 quail situation in New Mexico?

Anyone hunted chukar or Huns in Wyoming? It’s close enough I could actually make it up there for a hunt. are there enough to make it worth it. I’m not interested in sage grouse. I just traveled through and I saw some areas I know will hold blue grouse so that alone might be worth it.

I’ll start with blue grouse in New Mexico or Colorado , probably make it up to Nebraska for sharp tails/ chickens in october. Hopefully I’ll get to make a bunch of runs up to the Oklahoma panhandle and Kansas for pheasants. My dream hunt is Huns and chukar but I don’t think I’ll have the time...

Was thinking of making a combo hunt phez and cotton tops out around Elkhart. Anyone have any info on them numbers wise. Don’t expect to be covered up just wondering if it’d be worth a try.
