    Pointer vs Flusher Poll

My first dog was a flusher, since then I've gone pointer (versatiles, if you will). I've ran them through all the NAVHDA tests, and hunt the hide off them. If you told me I HAD to go kill a rooster in western MN or eastern SD (where I hunt), I'd take my buddies incredibly well trained lab. I...

Kuiu brush or orvis tough shells

My lovely wife ended up getting me the KUIU Pro Brush pant for Christmas. Against my better judgement, I decided to try them out down here in Arizona. Pro's: Super comfortable. A more athletic fit, less material to get snagged when crossing barbed wire! Good venting options for when it gets...

    Pudelpointer and Drahthaar comparisons please

The white on the muzzle seems more wirehair, but other parts might look PP. It's not uncommon to have PP with white, just usually on the chest. Could be mixed with something other than a lab too. Nothing wrong with a mutt, I was just talking to a AZGFP warden yesterday, said his best buddies...

    Dog Dies While At Trainer

I'm not defending the trainer at all, but simplifying this down to a matter of "are you smart enough" is disingenuous. I have the time/resources to train my dogs, but not everyone else does. Land/birds/equipment is a serious barrier. This trainer is well known in the versatile world of MN...

    Pudelpointer and Drahthaar comparisons please

GWP comes from the DD. DD is one-fourth PP. PP is a combination of EP and Wasserpudel (sp).

    Pudelpointer and Drahthaar comparisons please

That's a good point about heat tolerance. My DD is just plain bad in the heat. The PP is much better. Some breeders seem to be breeding leggier and slicker PPs, but I don't necessarily think that's in the best interest of the breed.

    Pudelpointer and Drahthaar comparisons please

They are actually quite similar in weight. The PP was just at the vet, 60lbs and very lean. The DD, if I had to guess, is 65lbs. If you were to lay hands on them, you would notice that the PP is built lighter, and the DD feels very dense, almost like her bones are made of lead. The PP is a...

    Pudelpointer and Drahthaar comparisons please

I don't believe that dysplasia is a present danger like it is for some other breeds, but quality breeders are still testing for it to keep it out. NAPPA requires all breeding dogs to be tested. Unscrupulous breeding could certainly let it creep in.

    Pudelpointer and Drahthaar comparisons please

I have one of each. If you want to see them I'm the field, search MissedAgainYT on YouTube. LINK: MissedAgainYT Disposition: Both are exceedingly friendly, but in their own way. PP has a lab personality, has to be with you and touching and goes nuts for attention. DD is happy to just be around...

Looking for a new to me 28 gauge. Reccomendations.

I can't hear you over the sound of my MEC 600 dropping shot. I can save $0.04 when I load my own 28ga shells.

    28 guage

I have never loaded hevi-shot. I do load #6 bismuth for my 16ga early season. But that has to get changed to #5 then #4 pretty quick.

    28 guage

My hand loads are #9.5tss/#3steel. $1.25/shell. So yeah, they are expensive. But if you're on the bird, it comes down. I try really hard not to take 40+ yard shots, but the ones I have, I've been really impressed.

    28 guage

28ga and TSS were made for each other. Cry when you pull the trigger, smile when your dog brings the bird back.

Does South Dakota law enforcement use pheasant decoys?

I was always under the impression that it had to be hit with high velocity rifle rounds. But youtube and the interwebs definitely have some going boom with birdshot. IDK, i don't think he was full of it.

Does South Dakota law enforcement use pheasant decoys?

This was before the county had a fulltime CO. I'm not sure if he still does it now. Seems like an uncomfortable conversation with the law lol. Dude is certainly a character.
