    How would you hunt this?

X2 Maybe some guy with Wisenheimers can find away to be argumentative if you are lucky :)

    Kennel/crate fans?

X2 The Ryobi fans are the bomb. The 4ahr batteries will run all day on low, and probably 5 or so hours on high. I hang them on the kennel door upside down with a simple hook from the hardware store.

re: Anyone here have knowlege of camping in Froid Montana in October?

I spent a lot of time in Froid before the oil rush. My info is dated but, avoid anything named Hobby Horse! The Sparks BNB was terrific but I believe Darnell Sparks has passed. The Ball Field in town had primitive camping. The Mint/annex serves a good drink and a decent pizza. The 8 ball in...

Where Have All the Birds Gone?

When I was a kid I remember crushing 5 gallon steel Paraquat cans with a tractor (Oliver 1955 MFWD) so they could go to the scrap recycler. We only use Paraquet 1-2 seasons if I remember right. I don't worry about Parkinson's but when ever I hear Paraquet I start thinking again.

Where Have All the Birds Gone?

Iowa is making huge improvements, SD is better today than five years ago (not 30), and I think MN is getting better. It is all about habitat, habitat, habitat, and mild winters. But great habitat can minimize the effects of a harsh winter.

    How would you hunt this?

With an experienced dog I wouldn't hesitate to hunt generally into the wind, and let the dog dictate where you go.

    Training eye control/marking

How to make a better marking dog, what I or anyone in retriever competitions would pay to know the answer :). Without seeing what's happening in person its pretty tough to tell if its a problem or just enthusiasm. Make your marks hard to get to but easy to find once they get there. IE Throw...

    Best Roto Molded Kennel

I just watched it, that was before the door redesign. I don't have a dog in the fight but I'd try to find someone who has one and decide for yourself

    Best Roto Molded Kennel

Central Minnesota Retriever Club had a gunner kennel in a raffle this weekend so I got to look one over closely. The door is better than what Rufland, or Dakota offer. It has a nice drain just like the Dakota, no drain on a Ruffland. The tie down points while different from a Dakota offer...

    Best Roto Molded Kennel

I have a ruffland and a Dakota 283, both are great portable crates. The Dakota is significantly more stout than the Ruffland, and not that much heavier. The Dakota also has a drain that makes it easier to wash out the crate. The ruffland "either way" opening door while not as solid is nice...

Join a local bird dog club...get involved.

I am a member of 2 AKC Retriever clubs, and a NAHRA club. Initially I joined these clubs for access to training grounds but the benefits are so much more. Many of my best friends and hunting buddies were met through my memberships. Where else can you get access 24-7 to approximately 400...

    Dog Breed Popularity

Altered dogs are eligible to run and title in all AKC, NAHRA, and HRC events. I don't know about AKC confirmation shows, I am very far removed from that venue.

    Dog Breed Popularity

Generally speaking a dual titled dog is one that has a confirmation championship (CH) and a field championship (FC or AFC). In the lab world these are unicorns as the breed is so severely split. My Ty dog has AKC (HT, FT, and obedience titles), a UKC HT title and NAHRA upland title. But he...

Is that little brown bag of rags a Boykin or a American water spaniel? It must be a Boykin since you have a Chessie, and Boykins are part Chessie if I remember correctly. Cool little dog

    Recent dog food experience

Our ability as trainers, training practices, and quality of breeding, have had FAR FAR FAR more effect than nutrition.

    Might be a bismuth shortage.

This strikes me as genius marketing to bolster sales during a traditionally slow sales quarter. This way they can bump sales with out the discount. To quote some politician from years ago "Never let a crises real or perceived go to waste" I usually buy all my shells bulk when they go on sale...

    Dog soap, shampoo?

In my opinion a bath with any kind of soap would be the last thing I would do. Good Luck

    Superstitions

I like it! I don't always pick up my hulls as I'm busy marking a wounded bird or yucking up a crappy shot. I do however pickup the empties I come across. I doubt I pickup more than I shoot but its something.

    Pheasants Forever Banquet Ideas

I know it was a donation and that is why I bought it, like most gun raffles there were a couple of desirable guns, and a bunch of misfits of science. I didn't want full retail + 20%, I asked for store credit. This was a win for the store if I used the credit for anything besides a firearm...
